At Howes Community Primary School, we aim to provide a happy, caring and inclusive environment where children strive to be the best that they can be. Every child that walks through the doors of Howes has the greatest opportunity to succeed; the greatest opportunity to valuable and enjoyable experiences to enhance their learning and understanding of the world; the greatest opportunity to become independent and inspired lifelong learners and the greatest opportunity to be prepared for the future ahead of them.
Our vision is that our children leave school with:
- A passion for learning and an enquiring mind
- Moral values, tolerance and mutual respect
- High self-esteem founded on a sense of resilience, determination and aspiration to achieve
- An understanding that everyone is a learner and every experience is a learning opportunity
- The skills needed to prepare them for the future and their life-long learning journey
We value the partnership that exists between school, parents, governors and community and the parts they all play in realising this vision.
Our school values form an acrostic poem which depicts what we all are at Howes – a good FRIEND!
Howes’ values are not just for a poster on a wall in school, but something that the whole school community live and breathe. These values are what makes our school ethos so special and because of them, have created an inviting culture of community within school: children, staff, parents, governors and our whole school community together. Each half term, we celebrate children who have shown exceptional ways to live out our school values. Following these values enables us all to strive to be the best that we can be.
Friendship is playing with each other, being kind, listening and having fun.
Respect is being kind to everyone and treating everyone how you would want to be treated yourself.
Integrity is being honest and doing the right thing all the time just because you know it is right.
Equality is treating people the same but knowing that everyone is different.
Nurture is being caring and looking after one another; making sure that everyone feels happy and safe.
Determination is never giving up. Striving to always be the best that you can be in everything that you do.
As part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) curriculum, we promote the fundamental values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
